The CJ's Cup 2018
17 teams representing law firms, the three law schools and Yellow Ribbon Fund beneficiaries took part in the CJ’s Cup charity futsal on Saturday, 30 June 2018. A total of $108,600 was raised in support of the YRF-SAL Skills Training Assistance to Restart (STAR) Bursary, which provides educational bursaries to financially disadvantaged ex-offenders.
The opening match at this event was a fun match where special guests from the judiciary, MinLaw and AGC played against an under 14-year old team from Tasek Jurong Limited, a non-profit organisation that helps at-risk youth and underprivileged children. The adults team which included the Honourable Justice Tan Siong Thye and Deputy Attorney-General Mr Hri Kumar, SC won the game after a penalty shootout.
The YRF-SAL STAR Bursary, started in 2014, has disbursed close to $230,000 benefitting 23 bursary recipients who have continued their studies and skills training in various courses ranging from diplomas to Bachelor degrees, in subjects including Business Studies, Mathematical Sciences, Sociology and Chemical Engineering.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the following teams, sponsors and donors, without whom this event would not have been possible.
