Feed the Machine: Prompt Design Challenge

Overview

The competition will be based on a single, comprehensive legal scenario designed to encompass multiple areas of legal practice. Participants will be challenged to create AI prompts that direct AI models to produce outputs across various critical legal tasks. For example, the scenario will require participants to generate prompts that guide AI in analysing legal precedents, summarising case law, and predicting outcomes relevant to a complex merger situation.

Additionally, participants will be tasked with creating prompts for drafting legal documents, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and international standards. Ethical considerations will also play a role, as participants must ensure their prompts align with the ethical standards of legal practice and avoid biases in AI outputs.

The competition’s integrated approach will allow participants to demonstrate their ability to apply AI in various aspects of legal practice while adhering to the good practices outlined in the PE Guide.

Submissions

Participants must submit a PDF copy of their prompt, a link to the AI-generated output, and a brief explanation of their approach, including any ethical considerations. Submissions will be judged on creativity, effectiveness, clarity, ethical awareness, generalization potential, and adherence to the best practices outlined in the Prompt Engineering Guide.

Prizes

Participants have the chance to win exciting prizes from sponsors such as SAL, Microsoft, and Lupl. The champion will receive free flight and accommodation to join SAL's next TLF business mission trip (destination to be confirmed), sponsored by SAL, along with a 1-year free Academy Library access, sponsored by Academy Publishing.
